Very little is known about the character of Dodger, but one thing is certain, she has a definite affinity for Emily Dickinson poems. Not only does she mention that one piece of arcane knowledge she knew in life (along with the fact that capers are in fact pickled nasturtium buds,) was that all Emily Dickinson poems can be sung to the tune of "The Yellow Rose of Texas" ( hence the Yellow Rose in the Layout,) she also Quotes a Poem when she says that "Parting is all we know of Heaven, and All we Need of Hell." The poem, taken in it's entirety, is particularly relevant to her situation...

“My life closed twice
before its close”
~ Emily Dickinson

My life closed twice before its close;
It yet remains to see
If Immortality unveil
A third event to me,

So huge, so hopeless to conceive,
As these that twice befell.
Parting is all we know of heaven,
And all we need of hell.

And if you'd like to try out the singing thing, you can find Emily Dickinson's complete works online here, and a midi of "The Yellow Rose of Texas" right here...
